Our Story
The story behind every sweet
Our lives changed completely on August 24, 2024. Our son Kevin was hit by a car while crossing one of the pedestrian lanes of the bike trail that runs through our neighborhood. The accident was severe, and he suffered a serious traumatic brain injury. From that day on, our world was turned upside down.
We left behind our routine, our jobs, and our plans to dedicate ourselves 100% to caring for him. We spent months in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, fighting every single day to give him the best possible chance of recovery.
We moved indefinitely from Florida to Massachusetts to seek out neurological specialists for his condition and his diagnosis of a disorder of consciousness. Here, the opportunity arose for him to take part in a pioneering deep brain stimulation (DBS) study — Kevin became the first patient to receive this implant for this diagnosis. Our hope has always been to do everything within our reach to give him the best chance of recovering his consciousness and his quality of life.
Along this journey, we realized we would need to find a way to earn a living that still allowed us to care for Kevin full-time. That is when we began to imagine building a small business around high-quality Brazilian products — one that could support our family while giving us the flexibility to continue this mission.
Today, this project is much more than a company. It is an opportunity to rebuild our lives, to keep Kevin's treatment going, and to turn all of this struggle into something positive.
